7th BCK Film Symposium

CLIMATE CRISIS is an undeniable challenge that requires decisive action from the global community. Everyday people face the consequences of human influence on the climate, while the environmental disasters are increasing at a worrying rate. The afflicted communities, the extreme weather conditions, as well as the loss of biodiversity are now a reality, while the need for sustainability and changes in our old habits and practices are imperative.

The 7th Balkan Can Kino Film Symposium,  takes place from the 24th until the 27th of October in the city of Athens,  and explores the complex challenge of climate crisis, through a series of screenings, workshops, open discussions and parallel events with the participation of curators, organisations and specialists from Greece and abroad. All events during the Symposium are with free admission.

The 7BCKFS is organized by Balkan Can Kino, a pop-up and mobile Film Festival, Symposium, and Lab, which was founded in 2017 by filmmakers in Athens and presents independent and guerrilla cinema, both internationally and locally produced, introducing new filmmakers, artistic communities and collectivities and highlighting the diversity of artistic expression, and FLP Athens, Civil Non Profit, an audiovisual company, which focuses on the production of art house cinema and the organisation of cultural events.

The 7BCKFS is under the auspices and support of the Ministry of Culture, the support of the SEE Cinema Network* and in collaboration with the British Council Greece, Mouries Collective, Conseederate, Planet: Critical and the Civil Non Profit Ektos Kadrou/Beyond The Frame.  The 7BCKFS venues are Zoetrope, Newman Cinema (ex Andora), Literature House and BIOS.
